Circles
03:04
|
|||
There’s something I’m running from or around
I guess maybe I just don’t wanna be found
The seats are all filled they don’t give a hoot
It’ll take all night to give ‘em the boot
I think I’m just trying to put things in place
In the mirror sometimes I wanna see a new face
I just hope I can remember the name
Of who I become and from where I came
Never could rise above the din
I never could just fit in
Or find a place where I belong
Something easy like a rhyme in a song
Maybe this isn’t so unusual
I could just be like every other fool
Wasting time just waiting around
Counting the minutes ‘til I get found
The circles we’re running all end up back here somehow
The circles we’re running all end up back here
I know this world has a lot to take in
And I don’t wanna seem unappreciative
But I gotta keep moving and trying new things
Keep writing the songs I hope to one day sing
I know I sometimes take things too seriously
But all these circles are catching up with me
Spinning me round trying to knock me down
I guess I’ll look at the stars while I’m laying on the ground
You know things are big but not as big as the sky
So stop running in circles and let yourself pass by

Tethered to the World
02:46
|
|||
Well you sit by the phone
Waiting for someone to say you’re not alone
But you’re tethered everyday
You got a sinking feeling things are not ok
The world is weird
Shouting at you to make you hear
Things you don’t want to know
But it seems like it’s kind of unavoidable
Well you try to forget
By drinking too much what’s the point of it
Maybe it’ll pass
But tomorrow’s here and it looks like it’s gonna last
There’s a deep void inside
Where memories they try to hide
So when you’re finished feeling down
Come on out from that darkened cloud
If you think the system’s rigged
You’re probably right but it’s much too big
For anyone to take on alone
So drop a line so I can come on down
Well you stare at your phone
Wishing everyone would just leave you alone
But you’re tethered everyday
You got a sinking feeling things are not ok

City Crow
02:27
|
|||
Walking across town trying to mind my biz
When a crow swooped down and just missed my head
He came around quick to take another pass
But I got out of there and I had to run fast
I turn around to look and what do I see
Now two crows taking turns diving at me
I must of looked crazy flapping around
But these crows were seriously going for the crown
Oooo, city crow
They say that a crow’s gotta real sharp mind
They can throw a nut down and crack it most of the time
Whatever you do don’t look in their eyes
Because they can remember and they don’t forget
Oooo, city crow
You don’t fly away because of me
You stand and stay in spite of me
A murder of crows is what they call their pack
And they’re always squawking about this and that
Just don’t forget who’s running the show
So when you see ‘em coming it’s time for you to go

Down All Night
01:52
|
|||
Down all night (down all night)
I’m down all night
Pour me another drink
I’m down all night
Leave this town (leave this town)
Gotta leave this town
When I get up off of this floor
I’ll leave this town
There’s a time to get lost
And a time to be found
All them good ol’ boys
Should buy another round
I’m down all night
Down all night (down all night)
I’m down all night
Pour me another drink
Buy me another round
Come on let’s get lost
I’m down all night
I’m down all night (down all night)
I’m down all night

Purple Rain

6. |
||||
Oh good night my dear I’m drifting off
I’ve chased all those spirits long enough for one night
And I fall down to the bottom
Where I won’t think of you
With one eye open I see what they see
My mind is spinning with too many thoughts of you

The Disappearing Act
04:35
|
|||
I’m only drinking my daily dose
But that’s ok because I write all my own prescriptions
So the sky’s the limit
I thought I heard another one biting the dust
So let’s run away and find a new place for us to hide
It’s what we do best
Is this it what you’ve been waiting for
You’ve finally arrived and now you’re walking out the door
It’s where you’ve been before
A perfect world with the stars aligned
Easily gone in a blink of an eye
And don’t be so surprised
I’m just looking for a place to blend in
To rewrite the truth rewrite the history
Until I disappear
Let’s forget it’s easy to slip away
Don’t look back when you’re out in the open all alone
Something’s crushing your chest
Stealing your breath
Until there’s nothing left
And don’t be so surprised

Folding
02:26
|
|||
I’ve got stacks of uselessness I haven’t used in a while
I keep reminding myself I should go through that old file
That one book I always meant to read
Strong feeling inside that might impede me
Folding and folding until it breaks apart
And doesn’t resemble what you had at the start
I keep roaming and searching and looking and not finding
Something that tells me that it’s time to start
Trying to find the meaning out
I really want this all to count
Anything everything all the time whenever
I can’t keep going on like this forever
Sometimes I walk around to clear my head
And that nagging feeling of overwhelming dread
I wish this all was just a video game
So I could turn it off or just restart the whole thing
Trying to find the meaning out
I really want this all to count
Anything everything all the time whenever
I can’t keep going on like this forever

Mumbly Joe
03:09
|
|||
Mumbly Joe where did you drift off to
I heard you were looking for some company
Someone to confide in and tell ‘em your dreams
Share with the nightmares that rattle your soul
I wasn’t much help
As I fell asleep
Searching for angels
To guide my way home
Mumbly Joe I hope that you find peace
And ward off the demons that haunt you so
Tell me a secret so I know it’s you
Sometimes my memory ain’t so good
Please don’t wait up for me
There’s someone I’m trying to find in here
I’m not crazy you see
There’s just a place I’d like to get to my dear

Great Big Trucky Truck
03:08
|
|||
I’ve got so much to tell you about the man I’ve become
But I’ve never been much for words cat’s got my tongue
I know how I can tell you without words I can say
I got me this truck to drive you away
Great big trucky truck let’s go for a ride
Just climb up that ladder on the passenger side
Great big trucky truck damn we’re up high
Great big trucky truck just you and I
I can see in your eyes you got something to say
That same cat’s got your tongue we gotta get that thing spayed
Now I know that it’s big oh please don’t you cry
Just climb right on in won’t you give it a try
Now I sit here alone thinking how things went wrong
I can’t figure it out but I wrote me this song
Well one thing’s for sure and just maybe it’s luck
I may have lost you but I still got my truck

Smoke Angels
01:59
|
|||
Send the signals up
Into the whispering sky
Into the fading clouds
Into the watching eye
Your ghost is with you
Hovering above
Writing the story
Watching it unfold
We stoke the fire
Give it the fuel
Feed the dark signals
Until we go home
Send the signals up
Into the whispering sky
Into the fading clouds
